In 1974, Stephen King published his first novel, the story of Carrie White, a troubled young girl, bullied by her peers and daughter to a fanatical fundamentalist mother, who discovers she has telekinetic powers. In 1976, it became the first of his works to be adapted for the big screen and, to this day, remains one of the very best.

Carrie marked Brian De Palma’s arrival as a major director, following smaller cult films such as Sisters, Phantom of the Paradise and Obsession, and provided a key early role for Sissy Spacek (Badlands), one that would earn her a Best Actress nomination at the Academy Awards. Piper Laurie would also pick up a nomination, for Best Supporting Actress, as Carrie’s mother, while future stars such as Amy Irving, John Travolta and Nancy Allen were give their first major parts in a big-screen production.

Restored in 4K from the original negative, this collector’s edition provides the definitive release of a horror classic.

~ Carrie 4K restoration Arrow Steelbook version is perhaps the best out there ~

Although I already had this movie on a previous Blu-ray, I must say that ARROW has done a superb job on this edition. The movie looks and sounds just fabulous, even better than my older MGM Blu-ray. I am donating that one. The Steelbook is beautifully done inside and out. It doesn't give away who the actors are other than Carrie herself on the front the moment she becomes enraged, covered in blood, and takes control of the High School Gym with her powers. I would say that most, if not all of the features, are brought over from the Scream Factory Blu-ray release. That version had 2 Blu-rays, one for the movie and one for the special features each with artwork on it from the movie. This ARROW Blu-ray, although great in video and audio quality with restoration, does not have artwork from the movie on the disc. There is only 1 Blu-ray, which ARROW has managed to get ALL features on a single disc with the movie. The only drawback on this particular release is that it is REGION B. Why did ARROW think to release this in REGION B is beyond me, but I love it anyway. There is also a nice movie pamphlet all about the movie, the cast, how it all went producing it. If you don't own this version yet and are a fan of the movie, get this one soon. Recommended, but you have to have a region free Blu-ray player.
