The Fall Of Skywalker

Darth Vader first appeared on cinema screens in 1977, featuring as the main antagonist in Star Wars: Episode IV – A New Hope. Portrayed by David Prowse and voiced by James Earl Jones, the dreaded Sith Lord made a huge impression on audiences thanks to his imposing armour and terrifying power.

Despite starting as a clear-cut villain, Darth Vader’s fascinating history came to light during Star Wars: Episode V – The Empire Strikes Back. Confronting Luke Skywalker on Bespin, it was revealed that he was in fact Anakin Skywalker — Luke’s father. This revelation set Luke on a path to redeem the fallen Jedi, which resulted in Darth Vader sacrificing his life to destroy Darth Sidious in the final instalment of the original trilogy, Star Wars Episode VI – Return Of The Jedi.

The origins of Darth Vader were further explored in the prequel trilogy, which began with Star Wars: Episode I – The Phantom Menace (1999) and concluded with Star Wars: Episode III – Revenge Of The Sith (2005). Taking place during the pivotal Clone Wars era, audiences witnessed a young Anakin Skywalker (portrayed by Jake Lloyd and Hayden Christensen) grow from Tatooine-born slave to Sith Lord. He fought alongside Obi-Wan Kenobi against the Separatists before falling to the dark side while attempting to save his wife, Padme Amidala.
