Iron Man T-shirts

Become invincible with Zavvi US’s wide range of officially licensed Iron Man T-shirts, the only clothing items fit for a die-hard Marvel fan. These high-quality products draw inspiration from Tony Stark’s various appearances in comic books and the films, featuring graphic prints that depict the different iterations of the suit from which the character received his superhero name.

Heroes Are Forged, Not Born

A superhero created by a team of recognisable talent in the comic-book industry — Stan Lee, Larry Lieber, Don Heck, and Jack Kirby — Iron Man (also known as Tony Stark) is one of the most popular characters in the Marvel Universe. Stark made his debut on the pages of Tales Of Suspense #39 (1963), in which he used a Gray-Colored suit of metal to combat Vietnamese agents. In later appearances, interior artist Steve Ditko presented a red-and-gold version of the suit, a design intended to be more streamlined and easier to draw than its oversized predecessor.

Although the character began as an individual defined by his investment in technology and national defence, he eventually developed nuanced personality traits and struggles, such as his addiction to alcohol, which was explored in the ‘Demon In A Bottle’ storyline. Furthermore, Stark made his presence known in the wider universe, becoming one of the founding members of the Avengers alongside Ant-Man (Hank Pym), Hulk (Bruce Banner), Thor, and the Wasp (Janet van Dyne). This team was intended to rival the Justice League, which had generated lots of fanfare at DC Comics.

In 2008, Stark (played by actor Robert Downey Jr.) made the transition to live-action film, launching the Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU). The movie recounted his evolution from weapons dealer to superhero, the change motivated by his being abducted by a terrorist organisation known as the Ten Rings.
