Almost perfect fantasy classic

I grew up with the movie Legend. It was on TV often, even recorded it on VHS. I always noticed it was always dark and felt (even as a kid), that it was too short and didnt give us enough time in that magical world. So years later when i heard a directors cut that was 25 mins longer was coming out i was super excited. I bought the ultimate edition DVD and fell in love with it! I now only watch the directors cut version. Then when it was released as a single disc blu ray, i bought it again and it looked even better. So when i found out Arrow was releasing it in a collectors box version, I bought it again. It's fully loaded with special features and i love the added stuff like lobby cards, poster etc. What I DIDNT like was only the theatrical version was remastered in 4K and the directors cut was not remastered. (I read in the booklet on why but i still thought at least a new 2K scan could of been done). I was also a little surprise that this wasnt a 4K UHD release but im still MOSTLY happy with this. For those who do not know the plot: The film stars Tom Cruise (Mission Impossible), Tim Curry (The Rocky Horror Picture Show) and Mia Sara (Ferris Bullers day off). It's the story of Jack, a forest child who falls in love with Lilly when she visits him in the forest. One day, Jack decides to show her (which he is not really allowed to), the sacred Unicorns. She wanted to touch one which is also forbidden. Also in this magical world is the evil Darkness demon (Tim Curry) who wants to kill one of the unicorns and use its horn to turn the world into darkness forever. Lilly ends up getting kidnapped along with one of the unicorns by Darkness' Hench men. It is then up to Jack, and forest creature's Gump, Screwball and Brown Tom to save Lilly and the unicorn before midnight or the world will be turned into darkness. Beautifully shot, and amazing direction by Ridley Scott (Alien). Sadly, it did not do well on the initial release in 1985 but gained a cult following. This is a must see fantasy film. One of Tim Curry's best performances. Highly recommended.
