A disaster movie who's premise is as serious as it is crazy - and with stunning special effects - The Day After Tomorrow, directed by Roland Emmerich (Independence Day), shows us a catastrophic vision of a world affected by global warming.

The film follows palaeoclimatologist Jack Hall (Dennis Quaid) after he discovers that global warming will lead to a new ice age, though his warnings to the UN fall on deaf ears. In the meantime, Jack's son Sam (Jake Gyllenhaal) is attending an event in New York, which has been affected by constant rain for weeks.

We see tornadoes, floods, and snowfall deep enough to engulf skyscrapers as the northern hemisphere starts to freeze and survivors attempt to flee to the warmth of the south. Jack must try to save his son and a small group of survivors in this greatly entertaining film that renowned critic Roger Ebert said is 'sublimely ridiculous' with 'stupendous' special effects, and now available as a Limited Edition Steelbook Blu-ray.
