The Home Of Japanese Pop Culture

A company that focuses on the manufacturing of collectibles inspired by Japanese pop culture (anime, manga, and video games), Good Smile Company (GSC or Good Smile) was founded by Aki Takanori in the early 2000s. Originally, the business dedicated its resources to event management and talent acquisition; however, they later began working alongside Max Factory — with whom they share a headquarters in Tokyo — to create physical products, such as PVC figures and statues. Said products are often marketed through Kahotan’s Blog, which is available in both Japanese and English.

Catering to consumers in Japan and Western territories, GSC has distributed products based on a variety of franchises: the Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU), Masters Of The Universe, Star Wars, Harry Potter, The Legend Of Zelda, and Overwatch — among others. These are represented in the company’s many product lines, including the likes of the Nendoroid series, figma series, and Scale Figures.

Their business operations having grown, GSC has invested in animation studios — LIDEN FILMS, Trigger, Ordet, and Sanzigen — and formed ULTRA SUPER PICTURES, a holding company. The main aim of this venture is to develop new animated works and nurture creative talent.
