Bringing Entertainment To Life

Founded in 2003 by Martin Butler (the CEO), Ukonic started as a manufacturer of officially licensed robes and loungeware, operating under the name Robe Factory. They worked alongside various clients — including ThinkGeek, Hot Topic, and Spencers — and adopted a customer-first ethos. Instead of developing products that nobody cared for, they focused company resources on items that shoppers were seeking, communicating directly with the target audience and thus building loyalty and repeat commerce.

Over time, Robe Factory expanded its line-up of products, selling items such as rugs and lighting. Because of this rapid growth, they rebranded to Ukonic. The ‘UK’ reflects the origins of the business, having started in the United Kingdom, and the ‘U’ also highlights the focus on customer, i.e., you. ‘ON’ demonstrates their commitment to being on at all times, and ‘I’ (which is upside down in their marketing material) shows a willingness to break the mould.

Throughout the history of the company, they have managed to secure licensing deals with some of the biggest entertainment franchises: DC Comics, Marvel, Disney, Halo, Harry Potter, Minecraft, Star Wars, The Mandalorian, Star Trek, and The Nightmare Before Christmas. This has allowed them to create tons of unique products, providing inspiration from characters and iconic moments.
