The Home Of Talent

An American film and television production company, Blumhouse Productions (also known as BH Productions and BH) was founded in 2000 by Jason Blum. Predominantly, the business aims to produce low-budget films, placing an emphasis on creative freedom for directors. These movies often fall into the horror genre, some examples being Paranormal Activity (2007), Insidious (2010), The Purge (2013), Split (2016), Happy Death Day (2017), Get Out (2017), Halloween (2018), Us (2019), and The Invisible Man (2020). However, multiple projects in the category of drama have also been produced. Two notable inclusions are Whiplash (2014) and BlacKkKlansman (2018), both of which were nominated for the Academy Award for Best Picture.

The first movie overseen by the company was Paranormal Activity. Directed by Oren Peli, the supernatural film cost $15,000 to make but grossed more than $193 million. This success proved the profitability of such an approach, and the Haunted Movies division was subsequently installed to continue making similar content, including The River (2012), The Bay (2012), and The Lords Of Salem (2012).

Since its establishment, BH Productions has worked alongside several high-profile directors: Leigh Whannell, Jordan Peele, M. Night Shyamalan, Spike Lee, Christopher Landon, James Wan, Mike Flanagan, James DeMonaco, and Damien Chazelle — among others.
