A Space Opera Like No Other

Star Wars is a massive space-opera franchise created by George Lucas, with the first Installment of the original trilogy, Star Wars: Episode – IV A New Hope, being released in 1977. Due to its astronomical success, the saga has since expanded to sequels, prequels, video games, comic books, novels, television series, and theme parks.

A New Hope focuses on the journey of Luke Skywalker, who finds himself drawn into a galaxy-wide civil war after his aunt and uncle are killed by the evil Galactic Empire on Tatooine. With the help of ‘Old Ben’ Kenobi, a former Jedi Knight, Luke learns the ways of the Force.

Following the first film, Lucasfilm released two more sequels to complete the original trilogy: Star Wars: Episode V – The Empire Strikes Back (1980) and Star Wars: Episode VI – Return Of The Jedi (1983).

The sci-fi franchise would later expand to the realm of TV, with The Mandalorian airing on Disney+ in 2019. Created by Jon Favreau, the show followed the bounty-hunting exploits of Din Djarin and Grogu (otherwise known as ‘Baby Yoda’).
