Who Lives In A Pineapple?

Created for Nickelodeon, SpongeBob SquarePants is an animated TV series that first aired in 1999. The show centres around its eponymous character (played by Tom Kenny), a pant-wearing sea sponge, as he lives his aquatic life in Bikini Bottom. This city, which is located in the Pacific Ocean, is home to a variety of exotic characters: Patrick Star (Bill Fagerbakke), Mr. Krabs (Clancy Brown), Squidward Tentacles (Rodger Bumpass), Sandy Cheeks (Carolyn Lawrence), Pearl Krabs (Lori Alan), Plankton (Douglas Lawrence), Mrs. Puff (Mary Jo Catlett), and many others.

SpongeBob’s day-to-day life consists of looking after his pet snail, Garry, and working at a fast food restaurant called the Krusty Crab. In his free time, he often attends boat-driving lessons under Mrs. Puff and hangs out with the loveable starfish Patrick, who is his best friend. Together, the enthusiastic duo catch jellyfish and unintentionally wind up their close neighbour Squidward, an octopus with a grumpy attitude.

In addition to his appearances on the popular series, which has aired more than 200 episodes since its television debut, our favorite yellow sponge has made the jump to the big screen. The SpongeBob SquarePants Movie was released in 2004, featuring live-action sequences and a cameo appearance by actor David Hasselhoff. Following a successful theatrical run, the film received two sequels: Sponge Out Of Water (2015) and Sponge On The Run (2020).
