Don't usually do product reviews but prompted by Zavvi, and because this product was a significant outlay of funds, the cost may dissuade some folks of taking the plunge. First off, I'm a Gen Xer and grew up on badly dubbed Saturday morning Godzilla movies, and vinyl records, so I'm biased. There are few things even today that still blow my mind like Godzilla and Led Zep. So, even though I don't currently have a turntable (stop guffawing) I could not pass this set up, if only for the rocking new artwork and the colored vinyl. That these swirling rainbow platters contain the Showa era movie soundtracks is the definition of awesome, regardless if one ever spins them (which I will, eventually). The artwork is killer. Even the color of each album uncannily reflects the very soul of each movie (Hedorah flick is appropriately sludge colored, Mothra bright as a sunflower). Suffice it to say somebody was imbued with enough passion and love for the Big G to produce this epic labor of love, which surpassed any of the high expectations I already had. Even my brother, who has devolved into a "lossless streaming only" zombie, blurted a single word when I opened this box - "WOW". If I were Jeff Bezos - or preferably Jimmy Page - I would buy two of these sets, and have all the artwork and all the vinyl individually framed and displayed on my giant Godzilla Wall of Awesomeness while spinning the other set loud enough for Jimmy to hear in his castle right across from my new McMansion. Plus it comes with a freakoid Godzilla turntable mat!! - just sayin. Hope that helped somebody pull the trigger...
