Life Is Just A Party

A multi-faceted performer, Prince Rogers Nelson was an American musician who developed a long-lasting legacy during his time in the spotlight. To this day, he posthumously remains one of the biggest and brightest stars in the industry, having developed the Minneapolis sound (a sub-genre of funk rock) and received critical acclaim for his work.

Signed by Warner Bros. Records when he was 19, Prince released his first album in 1978: For You. This was the first of a grand total of 39 albums that were debuted across his lifespan, which include Dirty Mind (1980), Controversy (1981), 1999 (1982), Purple Rain (1984), and Sign O’ The Times (1987) — among others. Owing to his diverse musical talent, he often provided the instrumental sound for his song recordings as well as singing.

In 1984, the world-famous superstar dipped a toe in another area of the entertainment industry for Purple Rain, a musical film that he both provided the score for and acted in. Albert Magnoli (Prince’s future manager) directed the movie, and The Revolution joined alongside their leading man for multiple concert sequences. The plot centers around the Kid (Prince), who is attempting to make a name for himself on the music scene with his band, The Revolution. However, he must first contend with a rival musician called Morris Day (Morris E. Day) as he persuades the Kid’s romantic interest, Apollonia (Apollonia Kotero), to join a new group.
