When Nina Simone recorded her third live album in 1961 at the Village Gate in Greenwich Village, NYC, no one could have known that her blend of vocal jazz, show tunes, African lore, and American folksong would have had such a lasting impact. 20th Century Masterworks recreates that legendary run on this reissue of 1962's "At The Village Gate", originally released on Colpix. This 180gram pressing features Simone's classic quartet on virgin blue vinyl, along with new liner notes from Brian Morton and two bonus tracks from Simone's 1959 run at Town Hall.
