The Kids From Yesterday

Originating from the United States (Newark, New Jersey), My Chemical Romance (MCR) is a world-famous rock band that was formed in 2001. The original line-up comprised Gerard Way (lead vocalist), Mikey Way (bass guitarist), Matt Pelissier (drummer and percussionist), Ray Toro (lead guitarist and backing vocalist), and Frank Iero (rhythm guitarist and backing vocalist). Having been motivated by the events of the September 11 attacks, Way has said that the establishment of the band was due to his desire to ‘make a difference’.

MCR’s artistic approach is credited with pushing emo-style music into the mainstream, each song incorporating punk aggression and confessional lyrics. Over the course of the band’s career, which has seen them attain massive commercial success, they have released multiple albums: I Brought You My Bullets, You Brought Me Your Love (2002), Three Cheers For Sweet Revenge (2004), The Black Parade (2006), and Danger Days: The True Lives Of The Fabulous Killjoys (2010). Their first two albums — released under Eyeball Records and Reprise Records, respectively — catapulted the group to fame; however, it was their third album, The Black Parade, that received the coveted triple platinum in the US and UK.

In 2013, MCR announced that they were breaking up. Nevertheless, this was short lived, as they reformed in 2017. This fact was kept hidden from the public eye until late 2019, when they officially revealed that they would be performing at a reunion show. Although this was said to be a one-time event, they extended this into a small tour that included visits to New Zealand, Japan, and Australia.
